The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) funded DISCOVERY with the goal of determining the specific subsets of stroke events that cause (and do not cause) cognitive impairment and dementia in post-stroke populations in the United States, including in health disparities populations.DISCOVERY aims to investigate what additional clinical factors, as well as comorbidities including those along the AD/ADRD spectrum, may causally synergize with stroke to result in cognitive impairment and dementia outcomes.
